Obituary

Sandra Yvonne Sellars Campbell,73, of 919 Bellevue Ave.,Trenton, N.J. died Thursday Sept. 28, 2017 in the comfort of her home.

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday morning at 10a.m. at Union Baptist Church 301 Pennington Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Sandra was born in Washington DC on May 11, 1944 to the late Zenobia Horton Sellars & Isaac Sellars, Sr. She graduated from W.B. Wicker School , received a BA in Sociology from North Carolina Central University and a MA in Counseling from College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College). Sandra was a Program Manager for WIC at the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services until her retirement after over 30 years of service.

She was a Golden Soror (member for over 50 years) of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., Epsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter where she held numerous service positions, Chair of the AKA: Adopt-A-School Program; Book Club; and Soror of the Year Committee. Sandra also served as Financial Secretary of the AKA Ivy League Educational Foundation. Sandra tirelessly gave her time to Child Care Connection as a volunteer and Meals on Wheels.

She was also a member of Fair Promise A.M.E. Zion church at an early age and later a member at Union Baptist Church. Sandra loved music and frequented jazz festivals around the East Coast. She loved traveling, the arts, and playing Pinochle.
She will be sorrowfully missed by her devoted husband of 40 years, Julius Campbell, Jr., son Michael Thompson, daughter Amia Goglia (Steven), step-daughter Sharine Campbell-Lugo (John) ; one granddaughter Arianna Goglia. Three loving brothers: Isaac Sellars, Jr. of Sanford, NC; Wallace Sellars of Raleigh, NC; and William (Dickie) Sellars (Delphine) of Durham, NC. sister-in law Joyce Kersey , two beloved nieces Ikea Sellars and April Sellars, three nephews Wallace Sellars, Jr., Blazer Sellars and Jabari Sellars, many cousins and friends.

Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Lighthouse Outreach Ministries 715 Bellevue Ave. Trenton, NJ. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter will conduct "The Ivy Beyond The Wall" ceremony at 6pm.

Sandra was the niece of the late Mrs. Nettie Ruth Horton Kendrick.

Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Homem324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ.
