Deacon Nathaniel Sterling Taylor, Jr., a native of Moore County, NC, was born September 2, 1934. He died September 26, 2020.

Deacon Nathaniel Taylor was baptized a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Addor, NC. He graduated from Berkley High School in Aberdeen, NC. After graduation he joined the US Army and served as a non commissioned officer for more than 20 years. A Criminology/Law Enforcement major at the University of Maryland, College park, he started his career in Law Enforcement with the District of Columbia Department of Corrections in Lorton, Va. Deacon Taylor later became a Federal Police Officer with the Department of Health and Human Services retiring as a Lieutenant.

Upon retiring from HHS he returned home to Addor and Poplar Springs where he was ordained a Deacon July 17, 2011.

He is the father of two children and a diligent servant of Poplar Springs.
