It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Joe Wayne Harrington Sr., who departed from this world on September 29, 2026, at the age of 89. Joe was born on April 26, 1937, in the quaint town of Jackson Springs, NC, and his journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.Joe was the cherished husband to his beloved wife, Nean, with whom he shared an extraordinary 66 years of marriage. Together, they created a beautiful family, welcoming seven children into the world: Lisa, Joe, Hershey, Rick, Martin, Wendell (who preceded him in death), Nikki. Our Big Brother Micheal (Teresa ). Joe's legacy lives on in his 17 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren, who will remember him as a pillar of strength and love.A devoted family man, Joe was predeceased by his parents, Emmanuel and Dasiy Harrington, his son Wendel, and his sisters Ruth Hazel Williams and Linda Darnell Henderson . He is survived by his Wife Emma Azzlene Harrington, His Sister Lavanda Harrington Worthy , his Children, Grandchildren, and Great-grandchildren and host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins, all of whom were the love and joy of his life.Joe's life was a testament to hard work and perseverance. He dedicated his professional years to construction work and served as a Free Mason, before spending a decade with Perdue, where he made lasting friendships and memories until his retirement.An avid fisherman, and Hunter Joe found solace in the embrace of the deep sea, and where he spent countless hours casting his line and enjoying the tranquility of nature hunting. His passion for sports was infectious, and he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, sharing his enthusiasm for football, basketball, and baseball with friends and family. Known for his warm heart and genuine interest in others, Joe never met a stranger and was loved by many.Raised with strong values, Joe was baptized at an early age instilling in him a deep sense of faith and purpose that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from high school in 1956 where he played football junior and senior year. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Joe's life and legacy. in his memory of a man who gave so much to those around him. Joe Wayne Harrington Sr.'s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him, as his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity continues to inspire us.
