Graveside funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022 at Lee Memory Gardens.  Rev. Iris Jordan officiant.  Viewing will be allowed at the cemetery mausoleum on Tuesday morning 9:30 til 10:30 am..

Freeman Artis Worthy was born September 9, 1932 to the late Artis and Mazie Currie Worthy in Sanford, N.C. He attended Lee County Training School (wb wicker,) Class of 1951. He joined the army twice and retired honorably with 21 years invested in 1971.   Freeman was a member of the 555 PIA (parachute infantry assoc.).  The 555 "Triple Nickels" was the first black airborne in the United States Army. Freeman took a trip to Marlboro, S.C. and married Daisy Williams Worthy in 1962, to this union two children were born.  After his military obligation, he joined the Sanford Police Dept..  He retired from the police dept. in 1998. Freeman was a helping hand in the communities and especially the schools.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Daisy W. Worthy, two children: Tensley Worthy and Loucheur W. Farrar; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, Military buddies, Sfd. Police Dept.  co-workers, Volunteer friends and many others.
